SA387 Grade 9 Class 2 – weldable carbon steel plates for pressure vessels and boilers used in elevated temperatures. The material benefits from added chromium and molybdenum which gives the steel greater corrosion resistance and resistance to heat. SA387 Grade 9 is used by fabricators who serve the oil, gas and petrochemical industry.

ASME SA387 Grade 9 is available ex-stock from our MUMBAI warehouse and we can dispatch to clients on a global basis. As with all our carbon steel plates, the material comes with mill certification and stampings.

Certain applications with the Refining and Power Industries along with specific environments within Chemical Plants require grades that address limited corrosion and elevated temperature concerns.
SA 387 Gr 12 is utilized to address low to moderate-temperature challenges.

For conditions with higher elevated operating temperatures, our SA 387 Gr 5, SA 387 Gr 9 and SA 387 Gr 91 are often used. The minimum tempering temperatures for these cr / mo grades are:

SA 387 Gr 12 (1150 °F)
SA 387 Gr 9 (1250 °F)
SA 387 Gr 5 (1300 °F)
SA 387 Gr 91 (1350 °F)

Thickness’ from 3/16″ – 6″
Supplemental testing available to simulate application and environment conditions
These grades can be specified in either Class 1 or Class 2

The test requirements or need can be easily fulfilled through a test like chemical composition analysis, material grain size determination, line discontinuities, freedom from defects, tolerance and dimensions, bend test, tensile test, Charpy impact test, and ultrasonic test. Some other test includes Destructive test or nondestructive test, Mechanical test, tensile test, hardness test, micro & macro test, positive material test, intergranular corrosion test, flattening test, and flaring test.
